Run Camp Refreshment Options Likely To Change. Can You Say Jambalaya?

-->
Borgess Run Camp is eyeing an exclusive post-run refreshment deal with a nationally known chicken and biscuit franchise, starting in the 2015-16 season.  “I can’t wait!” says Refreshment Chief Peter Lenz, who has been part of the negotiations.  “I get so tired of hearing people say, ‘Is this all you’ve got?’” when he puts out oranges, bananas, juices, bagels and cream cheese.  Organizers refused to name the franchise until a contract is signed, probably in early March. The lucrative three-year agreement would provide spicy Louisiana-style cooking to campers -- primarily chicken, chicken tenders, wraps and sauces. When seasonally available, shrimp and catfish will be offered, as will jambalaya and red beans and rice.  “Just think,” added Lenz.  “People will come in to the Health & Fitness Center, smell that grease and say, ‘I can hardly wait to get back from my run!’”

Katniss Everdeen Set to Join Run Camp

Katniss Everdeen, the celebrity tribute from District 12, is a late entry into Borgess Run Camp, the latest "big name" in camp since Taylor Swift trained for the 5K in 2011.  Everdeen said she was "looking for something more challenging than what I've been doing, and I heard a lot about Run Camp."  Everdeen requested that her boyfriend, Peeta Mellark, also be accepted as a late registrant at camp, but organizers invoked the "Branjelina Rule," adopted in 2008 after that celebrity couple disrupted camp with their incessant fighting.  Everdeen asked to be put on Sheila Clothier's team, but they started in December and coaches determined that the training schedule might be too strenuous for the 24-year-old star, who mistakenly put 17 on her camp application.  Steve Randolph, Eric Schiedel, Collin Nuismer, Jeff Nordquist, Rob Williams, Gary Maystead, Jason Visser, Rick Sedlack, Darrell Harden, Larry Mann and Kevin Jawahir agreed to look after her, and David Flickinger said to let him know if she needed to drop down to the 10K.
