Run Camp is eyeing an exclusive post-run refreshment deal with a nationally
known chicken and biscuit franchise, starting in the 2015-16 season. “I can’t wait!” says Refreshment Chief Peter
Lenz, who has been part of the negotiations.
“I get so tired of hearing people say, ‘Is this all you’ve got?’” when
he puts out oranges, bananas, juices, bagels and cream cheese. Organizers refused to name the franchise
until a contract is signed, probably in early March. The lucrative three-year
agreement would provide spicy Louisiana-style cooking to campers -- primarily
chicken, chicken tenders, wraps and sauces. When seasonally available, shrimp
and catfish will be offered, as will jambalaya and red beans and rice. “Just think,” added Lenz. “People will come in to the Health &
Fitness Center, smell that grease and say, ‘I can hardly wait to get back from
my run!’”
